Shanghai, China – Shenghua Cable has secured a nearly USD 10 million order from Russia for extreme cold-resistant power and control cables, reinforcing its position as a competitive global cable manufacturer and strengthening China–Russia industrial trade cooperation.
The order covers power cables, control cables, and specialty cables engineered for operation in temperatures as low as -50°C, primarily supporting Russian energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
Russia’s high-latitude regions frequently experience winter temperatures between -40°C and -50°C. Cable systems installed in these environments must maintain flexibility, mechanical strength, and electrical stability under extreme cold stress.
To meet these requirements, Shenghua Cable developed a dedicated cold-resistant cable series using specially formulated insulation and sheath materials.
Under laboratory testing at -50°C:
These performance metrics surpass conventional low-temperature testing standards and were key factors in securing the Russian contract.
All products included in the order have obtained EAC certification, the mandatory conformity approval for the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.
The cables comply with:
Depending on voltage class and application, products also meet GOST-R certification requirements and Russian fire safety regulations, ensuring full legal access to the Russian market.
As bilateral trade between China and Russia continues to grow, Chinese industrial manufacturers are gaining larger market share across key infrastructure sectors.
Russia’s domestic cable production capacity remains limited compared with China’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem. Chinese cable manufacturers offering certified, climate-adapted, and cost-effective solutions are increasingly favored by Russian buyers.
