Standard XLPE cable is rated 90 C, and in a furnace hall, a boiler room or above a steel plant soaking pit the ambient air alone can push the conductor past that figure. This four core 25mm2 cable uses a heat stabilised XLPE compound with an antioxidant package that holds mechanical properties at 105 C continuous, so the current rating can be applied without the heavy derating factor a 90 C cable would need in the same location.
The insulation is extruded to 0.9 mm nominal and cured under pressure, which gives a dense, void free wall. The oversheath is a heat and oil resistant PVC that resists the hydraulic oil, grease and cleaning agents found around plant equipment, and stays flexible at low temperature for winter start up.
Thermal ageing behaviour is what separates a genuine heat resistant cable from a relabelled one. We verify it with a seven day air oven test at 135 C and report tensile and elongation retention, so your maintenance team can compare the delivered cable against the specification rather than the datasheet wording.

Heat ageing, oil resistance and insulation resistance are tested per batch, and conductor resistance is recorded drum by drum. Our engineers can run a temperature corrected current rating for your ambient and grouping conditions so the 25mm2 section is neither oversized nor marginal. The heat resistant 4x25mm2 copper cores are annealed before insulation, so the cable still terminates cleanly after years of service at 105 C.
Hot area orders should start with a temperature survey rather than a cable size. Send the ambient readings, the grouping on tray and the load profile, and we will return a current rating corrected for 105 C operation together with the derating assumptions. The heat resistant 4x25mm2 copper cable is then supplied with the ageing report attached, which is often what the plant maintenance auditor asks for first.
Q: Why choose 105 C rated cable instead of 90 C cable?
A: In hot areas a 90 C cable must be derated, which often forces a larger section. A 105 C rated cable keeps the 25mm2 section usable at the same load, saving copper and space.
Q: Is the 105 C rating a conductor temperature or an ambient temperature?
A: It is the maximum continuous conductor temperature; ambient limits depend on installation and grouping, and we calculate the derating for your site.
Q: Can the cable be used in cable tray in a furnace hall?
A: Yes, with the heat resistant sheath it is suitable for tray and conduit, provided radiant heat from the furnace is shielded.
Q: Do you provide test reports for the ageing performance?
A: Yes, each batch is accompanied by a 135 C air oven ageing report with tensile and elongation retention values.
Q: Can you confirm the current rating at 105 C for our grouping?
A: Yes. We calculate the rating for the specified ambient, grouping and installation method, then issue the derating sheet with the quotation for the 4x25mm2 copper cable.
Share your ambient temperature, grouping and load, and we will return a derating calculation plus price for this 105 C heat resistant cable.
